  • Comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox)
  • Participate in Risk Assessments based on external and internal influences
  • Adhere to Behavioural Expectations
  • Participate in formal SHEQ Audits
  • Participate in Significant Incident Investigations
  • Adherence to all Quality standards as determines by ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 requirements
  • Performing first-line corrective actions in terms of deviations of test work or deviations from the policies and procedures as outlined in the laboratory Quality system

  • Ensure Customer Satisfaction

BUSINESS PROCESSES

  • Ensuring that all samples are prepared according to the required techniques and standards and preparing a range of samples when required
  • The calibration and preparation of the specific laboratory equipment required to do the various chemical analysis
  • The use of specific chemical analysis techniques, methods and equipment to measure and determine the chemical components of Raw Material samples
  • Prepare solutions and samples for ICP, XRF and Auto-titrators
  • Calibrate analytical equipment on delegation of the Laboratory Coordinator Analyst or Laboratory Practitioner
  • Report shortage of Chemicals, glassware and spares for equipment to the Laboratory Practitioner
  • Determine pH measurements
  • Report malfunctioning o analytical equipment to the Laboratory Coordinator Analyst or Laboratory Practitioner
  • Report abnormal values to the Laboratory Coordinator Analyst or Laboratory Practitioner
  • Solve problems from the Laboratory and Plant when samples are swopped, mixed or missing
  • Do checklists of equipment
  • Organise and supervise the changing of gases and check leaks
  • Control the storage of reserved samples
  • Ensure that reported results are correct
  • Work overtime at short notice when required
  • Ensure that the Platinum wore at the Laboratory is stored safely as per standard operating procedure

ADMINISTRATION

  • Logging of analytical results onto the log sheets and data files on the computer
  • File used mass sheets
  • Update the record of consumables removed from the general and chemical store
  • Ensure that all logbooks are correctly marked according to quality requirements

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Grade 12 / N3 with Maths and Science
  • Computer literacy (MS Office and associated software)
  • Report Writing Skills
  • Knowledge of ISO 17025, IMS and EBMS
  • National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry will be advantageous
  • Atleast 3 years’ experience at the Laboratory testing environment
