Career

Botha was a printmaker and sculptor as a young man, and he created and chaired the Community Arts Workshop (1984–86).

He received the Volkskas Atelier Merit Award in 1987, the Cape Town Triennial Merit Award in 1988, the Standard Bank Young Artist Award in 1990, and the National Vita Art Award in 1991. (1992). He used traditional aboriginal craft methods to produce his artwork.
