Gert Sibande TVET College and INSETA Offer Work Integrated Learning Programme
Gert Sibande TVET College, in partnership with INSETA, is providing an 18-month Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme for unemployed students. This opportunity aims to equip students with practical workplace experience needed to complete their qualifications and boost their career prospects in the insurance sector. Applications are open until June 1, 2026.
About the Programme
The collaboration between Gert Sibande TVET College and the Insurance Sector Education and Training Authority (INSETA) offers a valuable chance for students to gain hands-on experience. Successful candidates will be placed in insurance companies within the Gert Sibande Region, gaining exposure to the financial and insurance industry. This programme is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and the demands of the professional world.
Fields of Study
This learnership is open to students who have successfully completed N4 to N6 qualifications or hold a DHET Statement of Results in specific Report 191 Business Studies programs. The qualifying fields of study are:
- Management Assistant
- Human Resource Management
- Financial Management
Programme Duration and Requirements
The Work Integrated Learning Programme is set to run for a total of 18 months. To be eligible for this opportunity, applicants must meet a set of criteria. These include being a South African citizen between 18 and 35 years old, being currently unemployed, and having no criminal record. A good command of English is also essential.
Furthermore, applicants must be willing to work within the insurance sector and funeral parlours. They should not be currently studying or planning to study during the programme period. Participation in any other learnership, internship, or training program is also a disqualifying factor. Importantly, applicants must be registered or former students of Gert Sibande TVET College and possess the required N4 to N6 Certificates or DHET Statement of Results in one of the specified fields. Students currently volunteering, especially outside the insurance industry, are advised against applying.
Required Application Documents
Prospective applicants need to prepare and submit several documents to support their application. These include an updated Curriculum Vitae (CV) and an originally certified copy of their South African ID. A certified copy of your Matric Certificate and, where applicable, your NCV Certificate are also required. Finally, originally certified copies of your N4, N5, and N6 Certificates or your DHET Statement of Results must be included. It is important to note that all certified documents must not be older than six months from the date of certification.

Gert Sibande TVET College and INSETA will only contact shortlisted candidates for the next steps in the selection process.
