Bursary Value and Coverage

The bursary provides between R30,000 and R60,000 per year. This amount depends on the course and school. It covers tuition fees, prescribed textbooks, and an accommodation allowance.

Work-Back Obligation

Once you finish your studies, you must work for Shoprite Group. The rule is one year of work for each year you received funding. This helps you gain real job experience.

Minimum Requirements

All applicants must meet these basic rules:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Be 27 years old or younger.
  • Have completed Matric.
  • Study at a recognized tertiary institution.

Field-specific rules apply too:

Accounting (CA Stream)

  • Study BCom Accounting or BAcc (CA stream).
  • Be in 2nd to 4th year, or PGDA/CTA.
  • Have a minimum 65% average.
  • Get 65% in Accounting, Auditing, and Tax.

Biological & Agricultural Sciences

  • Study agriculture-related qualifications.
  • Have a minimum 60% average.

Retail Business Management

  • Study Diploma in Retail Business Management.
  • Have a minimum 60% average.

Supply Chain & Logistics

  • Study Logistics, Supply Chain, or Operational Research.
  • Have a minimum 60% average.

Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates hear back within 30 days after the closing date on 31 May 2026. Shoprite may prefer internal candidates. If you get no feedback, assume your application did not succeed.
