MISA 2026 Internship Programme: Opportunities for South African Graduates

MISA invites South African graduates to apply for its 2026 internship program. This 24-month opportunity offers real-world experience in public sector work. Program Overview

The Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent (MISA) runs a Graduate Internship Programme for 2026-2028. It targets unemployed graduates who want hands-on training. MISA helps municipalities plan infrastructure, deliver services, and build capacity. Interns get exposure to government operations and develop technical skills over two years.

Key Details

This program lasts 24 months. Interns receive a monthly stipend of R7,860.50. It is open only to unemployed South African graduates. Note that it is a one-time chance per qualification. Past internship participants cannot apply.

Available Positions

MISA offers four internship fields. Each has a specific reference number and qualification requirement.

Information Communication Technology (ICT) Intern
Reference: MISA/ICT/01
Qualification: IT or Computer Systems Engineering
This role involves supporting ICT operations in a government setting.

Finance Intern
Reference: MISA/FINANCE/02
Qualification: BCom Accounting, Financial Management, or Cost & Management Accounting
Interns assist with financial tasks and reporting.

Internal Control and Compliance Intern
Reference: MISA/ICC/03
Qualification: Accounting, Auditing, Internal Audit, or Risk Management
Duties include checking compliance and managing risks.

Legal Services Intern
Reference: MISA/LEGAL/04
Qualification: LLB or Law Degree
This position supports legal work and documentation.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify, you must meet these criteria:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Be an unemployed graduate.
  • Hold a National Diploma or Degree at NQF Level 6 or 7.
  • Have no prior internship experience.
    Prepare a completed Z83 form and an updated CV.

Main Responsibilities

Interns will help with daily operations and projects. They perform admin and technical tasks under supervision. Expect to assist in reporting, compliance, and documentation. This builds practical public service skills through mentorship.
