About the ECIC Graduate Programme
The ECIC Graduate Programme builds strong professionals ready for business, finance, and insurance jobs. It gives participants a close look at daily operations in these fields. South African unemployed graduates can apply before the closing date of 20 April 2026.
Available Graduate Opportunities
ECIC has two main trainee roles open for 2026. Each one targets different skills and interests.
Graduate Trainee – Business Development
This position deals with finding deals, research, and talking to clients in finance and export credit. Trainees do market research and profile companies. They spot partners, investors, and clients, plus build deal pipelines. Other tasks include competitor analysis, sector reviews, due diligence, financial checks, client meetings, and networking.
Graduate Trainee – Actuarial
This role aids the Actuarial Unit with data work, insurance models, and reports. Trainees help with calculations for insurance reserves and solvency. They support pricing models, data checks, risk reports, ORSA, ALM projections, and regulatory filings.
Minimum Requirements
Requirements vary by role, but all applicants must be South African citizens with no prior work experience needed.
For Business Development:
A degree in Accounting, Commerce, Law, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, or related fields. A strong academic record helps.
For Actuarial:
A degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics, or a similar quantitative field. Applicants must actively pursue actuarial board exams.
General rules apply to both: strong grades, and people with disabilities are welcome to apply.
Skills and Competencies
Successful candidates show key abilities like strong communication and people skills. They need analytical thinking and problem-solving. Commercial awareness, computer skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint are essential. Trainees must handle pressure, work in teams, and take initiative.
