DMPR Internships 2026: Opportunities for Unemployed South African Graduates
Are you a recent graduate looking for hands-on experience in mining, petroleum, or related fields? The DMPR Internships 2026 offer a great chance for unemployed South African graduates to build skills and boost their job prospects. This programme runs for the 2026/2027 and 2027/2028 financial years and places interns across multiple provinces.
About the DMPR Internship Programme
The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR) runs this internship to help graduates gain real-world exposure. It targets South Africans who are unemployed and need practical training to improve their employability. The department welcomes applications from people with disabilities and TVET college graduates. Interns must handle their own transport and accommodation. Placements are in cities like Pretoria, Braamfontein, Witbank, Polokwane, Welkom, Kimberley, Gqeberha, East London, Cape Town, Klerksdorp, Mafikeng, and Durban.
Internship Stipend
Interns receive a monthly stipend based on their qualification level. Those with a diploma, degree, or honours get R7 860,50 per month. Master’s degree holders receive R9 482,00 per month.
General Requirements
All applicants must use the new Z83 form from 01 January 2021. Attach a full CV with your application. Only shortlisted candidates submit certified copies of qualifications later. People who joined a government internship before will not qualify. Students needing experiential training must include a letter from their college or university. Submit a separate Z83 and application for each post if applying to more than one. Late or incomplete applications get rejected. The closing date is 08 May 2026.
