Available Internship Fields
BOCMA has positions in three main areas.
Water Resources Management (10 Positions)
You need a Bachelor’s degree in Water Resources Management, Environmental Science, or related fields. Honors degrees in Microbiology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry also qualify. Interns handle water quality checks, environmental rules, and sustainability efforts.
Water Resource Planning – Hydrology/Geology (2 Positions)
A Master’s degree in Hydrology, Hydrogeology, or Geology is required. This role involves technical modeling and long-term water planning.
Water Resource Planning – Engineering (2 Positions)
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Agricultural Engineering works here. Interns help plan infrastructure and develop water systems.
Duration and Stipend
The program runs for 24 months on a fixed-term contract. Monthly stipends are R7 500 for NQF Level 7-8 qualifications or R10 000 for NQF Level 9.
Who Can Apply: Minimum Requirements
Applicants must be South African citizens under 35 years old and currently unemployed. You need a relevant qualification with at least 60% in your final year. No prior internships in public or private sectors are allowed.
