The Brenthurst Foundation<\/strong>\u00a0is inviting applications from young graduates for the\u00a0Machel-Mandela Internship Programme,<\/strong>\u00a0named in honour of former South African President Nelson Mandela and his wife Graca Machel. The Machel-Mandela Internship programme aims to be the most prestigious of its kind in Africa.\u00a0 It helps sharpen the Brenthurst Foundation\u2019s focus on Africa\u2019s burgeoning youth population and helps nurture Africa\u2019s future leaders.<\/p>\n
The internship will be available full-time for a minimum of six months and the selected candidate will be expected to take up the appointment by 1 June 2023. \u00a0\u00a0The intern may be from South Africa or farther afield. They will be based at the Brenthurst Foundation\u2019s headquarters in Parktown, Johannesburg. Interns will work directly with and assist the Foundation\u2019s staff on a range of projects and activities, some of which will require foreign travel.<\/p>\n
An all-inclusive stipend per month and accommodation, if required (subject to Foundation policy) will be provided. Other work\u2013related expenses may also be covered subject to agreement with the Foundation.<\/p>\n
Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n
-Under 30 years of age<\/p>\n
-A Masters level degree<\/p>\n
-Excellent spoken and written English. \u00a0African and other languages would be an asset.<\/p>\n
-Excellent communication skills<\/p>\n
-Enthusiastic and reliable, a self-starter who requires minimal oversight and management<\/p>\n
-Able to balance deadlines and attention to detail<\/p>\n
-Fluency in all basic IT skills<\/p>\n
-Copy-editing and proof-reading skills an asset<\/p>\n
-A passion for Africa and a keen interest in new thinking and strategies to strengthen Africa\u2019s economic performance.<\/p>\n
-Broad knowledge of African politics and economics<\/p>\n
-Familiarity with the work of the Brenthurst Foundation (please consult the website : www.thebrenthurstfoundtion.org)<\/p>\n
