Case Study Development

Developing detailed case studies of African companies is another important duty. This includes looking at firms, startups, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) involved in green technology. These case studies will help ground policy recommendations in actual market and industry data.

Stakeholder Engagement

The role involves organizing and leading high-level roundtables and policy discussions. The fellow will interact with stakeholders from Africa, Europe, and Asia. Building cross-regional expert networks will support ongoing collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Research Outputs and Publications

Required Qualifications

Candidates need an advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in political economy, economics, energy policy, or industrial policy. They should also have 4-6 years of professional experience in policy research, think tanks, or development research, with a strong focus on African economic development or energy transition. Proven experience with qualitative research methods, such as policy analysis, document review, interviews, and case study research, is essential. Strong writing skills for policy briefs and reports, along with experience engaging policymakers or industry actors, are also required. Fluency in English is necessary.

Desirable Qualifications

Additional qualifications that would be beneficial include knowledge of international green industrial and energy partnerships. Experience working with think tanks or international organizations is also desirable. Existing connections within African ministries, firms, or industry bodies would be an advantage. Familiarity with EU-Africa energy and industrial policy relations is also noted.
