Thulamela Municipality Offers Infrastructure Skills Development Grant (ISDG) Graduates Programme
Thulamela Local Municipality is providing a valuable opportunity for unemployed graduates to gain practical experience through its Infrastructure Skills Development Grant (ISDG) Graduates Programme for 2026. This initiative, a collaboration with the National Treasury, aims to equip graduates with essential skills in municipal infrastructure and planning. The program offers a fixed-term contract of three years, focusing on hands-on learning within a municipal setting.
Available Opportunity: Town and Regional Planning Graduates
The program specifically seeks four graduates for positions in Town and Regional Planning. To be eligible, candidates must hold either a B.Tech in Town and Regional Planning or a Bachelor’s Degree in the same field. This qualification ensures that applicants have a foundational understanding of the principles and practices required for the role.
Minimum Requirements for Applicants
Beyond the academic qualifications, several other criteria must be met. Applicants must be suitably qualified and currently unemployed. They need to be South African citizens with a valid identification document and must be under the age of 35. While not mandatory, possessing a valid Code 08 driver’s license is considered an advantage. The municipality also emphasizes that appointments will be made in accordance with Employment Equity principles, promoting fairness and diversity in its workforce.
Responsibilities of Successful Candidates
Selected graduates will be involved in a range of critical tasks that support the municipality’s infrastructure and planning functions. Their responsibilities will include assisting with the design of layout plans, which are fundamental to urban development. They will also participate in conducting site inspections to ensure compliance and progress.
Furthermore, successful candidates will gain exposure to project management, a key skill in delivering infrastructure projects efficiently. The role involves assessing building plans and site development plans, ensuring they meet regulatory standards. Processing land development applications, rezoning applications, and subdivision and consolidation processes are also part of the duties. Finally, graduates will learn about township establishment processes and the issuing of zoning certificates, providing a well-rounded experience in municipal planning.
Required Application Documents
To apply for this exciting opportunity, candidates must prepare a specific set of documents. The application must include a signed Thulamela Municipality application form, which can be obtained from the municipal website. A comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV) detailing the applicant’s qualifications, experience, and skills is also required. Additionally, certified copies of all relevant qualifications must be submitted.
Important Application Notes
