Two positions are available in the Capricorn District: one at Capricorn East (Reference Number: LDARD 01/04/2026) and one at Capricorn North-West (Reference Number: LDARD 02/04/2026).

Mopani District

The Mopani District has three openings: two at Mopani North (Reference Number: LDARD 03/04/2026) and one at Mopani West (Reference Number: LDARD 04/04/2026).

Vhembe District

Essential Requirements for Applicants

To be considered for these Animal Health Technician roles, candidates must meet specific educational and professional criteria. A Grade 12 certificate is the minimum educational requirement. Additionally, applicants need an appropriate qualification at NQF Level 6 in Animal Health or an equivalent qualification recognized by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Current registration with the South African Veterinary Council as an Animal Health Technician is mandatory. A valid driver’s license is also required, unless the applicant has a disability that prevents them from obtaining one.

Negotiation skills, time management abilities, and computer literacy are also important. The role involves report writing, so proficiency in this area is necessary. Knowledge of key legislation such as the Animal Diseases Act, 1984 (Act 35 of 1984), the Animal Identification Act, 2002 (Act 6 of 2002), and the Meat Safety Act, 2000 (Act 40 of 2000) is expected. Familiarity with disease control programmes, eradication schemes, and the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) is also beneficial.
