Women leaders around the world have a new chance to build their skills and networks. The VVEngage Fellowship 2026 from Vital Voices offers full funding for women in public roles. This program helps them make stronger decisions and push for gender equality.

What is the VVEngage Fellowship?

Vital Voices runs the VVEngage Fellowship to support women who shape public policy. Backed by Freeport-McMoRan, it targets leaders in government, politics, and civic groups. The goal is to boost their power in public life and promote equal representation.

This 10-month program focuses on key skills like leadership and strategy. Fellows work with experts from the Council of World Women Leaders and Harvard Kennedy School professors. They also connect with heads of state through the Council of Women World Leaders network.

The fellowship ties into UN Sustainable Development Goal 5 on gender equality. It encourages bipartisan work and changes views on women in leadership. Over 190 alumni already benefit from this global community.

Who Can Apply?

To join, women must meet clear requirements. First, they need at least three years in a leadership role. This can be in public office, government, civic groups, political movements, or policy work.

Applicants must be 18 or older by June 2026. They should fit one of these roles: elected or appointed official, political party leader, political activist, community leader, media professional, or civil society leader.

Commitment matters too. Leaders must follow the Vital Voices Leadership Model. This means being innovative, collaborative, mission-driven, community-focused, open to different political views, dedicated to women and girls, and strong on transparency and good governance. They also need to support the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Program Benefits

Fellows gain practical tools for public leadership. They learn political strategy, governance, strategic communications, and community mobilization. A virtual course called the Vital Voices Leadership Journey draws from 25 years of global work.

After finishing, fellows join the VVEngage Alumni community. This group offers ongoing virtual programs. They also enter Vital Voices’ network of over 49,000 women leaders worldwide.

The network hub provides continuing education and engagement chances. These connections help fellows keep growing and collaborating long-term.

Training and Support Details

The program starts with hands-on training. Partners include the Council of World Women Leaders and Harvard Kennedy School faculty. Topics cover leadership basics, communications, political planning, and governance.

Fellows build skills to influence policy and work across divides. They focus on real-world challenges like equality and representation. Access to peers and top leaders adds value.
