South African National Parks (SANParks) offers a great chance for recent graduates through its Internship Programme 2026. This program helps unemployed youth gain real-world skills in conservation and other areas. Program Overview
The internship lasts 24 months. You will receive a stipend of R6,335.69 each month. Positions are open in various SANParks offices across South Africa. SANParks manages over 3.7 million hectares of protected land in 20 national parks. Keep in mind that the program does not guarantee a full-time job at the end.
The deadline to apply is 22 April 2026. Spots fill up fast, so check if you qualify early.

You need a National Diploma at NQF Level 6 in a matching field. Here are the main areas:
Tourism and Marketing
Fields include Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Finance, or Accounting.
Wild Card / CRM and Loyalty
Look for Tourism Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or Communications.
Socio Economic Transformation – Kruger National Park
Administration is the key field here.
Socio Economic Transformation – Knysna, George, Plettenberg Bay and Port Elizabeth
Business Management, Economics, Supply Chain Management, or related fields apply.
Communications
Options cover Information Science, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Marketing, Communications, Events Management, Hospitality, or Public Relations.
ICT
Information Technology, Computer Science, Web Development, or equivalent.
Finance
Accounting is required.
Socio Economic Transformation – Groenkloof
Environmental Education, Natural Sciences, or Social Sciences.
Socio Economic Transformation – Port Elizabeth
Social Sciences like Anthropology, Sociology, Community Development, Environmental Management, Public Administration, Development Studies, or Heritage Studies.
Legal Services
An LLB degree is needed.
Minimum Requirements
To apply, you must:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Be aged 18 to 35.
- Hold a National Diploma (NQF Level 6) from a South African school.
- Be unemployed.
- Not have done another internship before.
Foreign qualifications need evaluation by SAQA.
